This Picasso Jasper long mala has a total of 108 beads including either Red Jasper or Tiger Ebony marker beads. The head bead is not counted in the 108 beads. The contrasting marker beads are 10mm in size and placed every 27th bead. The Red Jasper markers are highlighted with copper plated brass discs and the Tiger Ebony beads with golden coloured brass discs.
The mala is strung on flexible wire and finished with your choice of tassel – either a brick red tassel to tone with the Red Jasper marker bead or a grey/green tassel that complements one of the colours from the Picasso Jasper beads – you can choose the tassel colour. The tassel is made from 100% cotton.
PICASSO JASPER is one of many types of natural Jaspers which are a variety of Chalcedony – a micro-crystalline variety of Quartz. These lovely beads come in natural colours of cream/gold, brick reds, greys and shades of green.
RED JASPER is brick red in colour with some veined markings on the beads. These are excellent quality Jasper beads with a lovely polish.
TIGER EBONY wood, also called Tiger Kamagong, is from the Kamagong “Mabolo” fruit tree found only in the Philippines. Some beads are very dark, others come with rich, warm patterning. The wood is dense and hard and belongs to the ebony family. It is an endangered tree species and protected by Philippine law – these beads comply with this law and are from a reputable supplier.
The mala measures round over the 108 beads approximately 96cm (37.5 inches). Laid flat and measured from top to toe, with the tassel and head beads, it is around 55cm (22 inches).
